MINIMALIST TOUCH
Minimalist style reigns supreme from the runway to the streets. -By Mughni Che Din
There is nothing “basic” about minimalist fashion. Making its mark in the ‘90s, this fashion trend made a triumphant comeback as seen on the catwalks to the streets of major fashion weeks putting a simpler, crisp and clean aesthetics back in focus.
Defined by one major principle which is “less-is-more”, the popularity of the clean-lined outfits, which often play with proportion over prints (think slouchy mannish trousers, scandi-cool shirts, column sheath dresses and sleeveless tops), may derive as much from a sustainability perspective as from a sartorial one.
However, despite what it might look like – rack upon rack of monochrome garment in modest cuts – this trend is anything but bland. Think of how a capsule wardrobe declutters your life, minimalist outfit declutters your look. Be creative, and have fun getting back to basics in the sleekest way possible.
